This SHOUTcast server runs on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server 2. It is a unix-style app without an Aqua interface, and has to be run in a terminal window. SHOUTcast is a streaming media system for Windows and Un*x platforms. At the center of the system is this product, the SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server (DNAS). The DNAS is responsible for accepting a broadcast feed from Winamp and the SHOUTcast Source DSP plug-in, and repeating the broadcast to listeners connected to this SHOUTcast DNAS. Once your source content is being fed into the SHOUTcast DNAS, it will also, dependent on the source content's configuration, list itself with the SHOUTcast directory so listeners can locate your broadcast.

Streamers uses Safari, WireTap, iCal 1.5.1 or greater, and iTunes to automate the process of recording internet audio streams for later playback in iTunes (and on an iPod). You will need all four applications for Streamers to work. (Note that you will also need Quicktime Player, RealPlayer and Windows Media Player. I'd like to workaround this, but applescript appears to require these apps all to be present if they're supported.) Important! In Wiretap: (Download from Ambrosia Software.) In WireTap's preferences, specify the Desktop as the location to which files should be saved. Make sure the "Application Name" checkbox is deselected. Select the "Prefix" checkbox, and enter only "recording" in the text field. Deselect the checkbox next to "Open files after recording them."
